Project Description
California State University San Marcos is a very diverse campus. The Office of Diversity asked for ways to represent this diversity. While the targeted data was not specific, we were given a web database to work from for the project. The actual project could take whatever format we wanted, as long as we depicted the data.

Representation of Project Data
The project’s data consists of the diversity in the different colleges within California State University San Marcos.

Work in Progress

Graphic representations of the tree trunk and the pie charts are part of the project’s development.

Process

The process for this project involved running a report through RADAR (Reporting and Data Analytics Repository). We used the website https://www.csusm.edu/ipa. IPA stands for Institutional Planning and Analysis and it is responsible for the development and maintenance of data resources used to provide support for planning and decision making at the University.

We used Illustrator CC and Photoshop CC to create the poster.

Project Outcome
This poster represents the diversity within the four different colleges at Cal State University San Marcos. The branches of the tree represent each of the colleges and the leaves represent the percentage of male and female students per college. The following image represents the diversity of one of the colleges, or one branch.

One Reply to “Picture of Diversity at CSUSM – poster”

  1. I loved the visual and how appealing to the eye it was. At first glance I felt as if I was learning just simply by the pie charts. As I continued to look I saw the additional information within the branches and the leaves. I enjoyed how detailed your visual was and I could see it being blown up and presented somewhere on campus. Great job!
